Tell us something interesting about your background.

My first job out of college was working as a talent agent in Hollywood. During this time casting directors started requiring actors to have resumes on the back of their headshots. Helping each actor develop their resume became a part of my job. It was fun hearing about each person’s career journey. Little did I know that years later helping individuals tell their story in a resume would be a significant part of my job and one I continue to enjoy.

What has led you to your current role?

I graduated with a degree in the humanities. I didn't know what I wanted to do and gave myself permission to explore. I worked in entertainment, business, healthcare, nonprofit and education. In each role, I gained insight about what I valued, found interesting, my strengths and skills. Through exploring I realized how much I enjoyed researching careers, taking assessments, doing informational interviews and hearing people’s stories, applying to and interviewing for opportunities I was genuinely excited about. In my search for meaningful work, I learned about career counseling. I completed a Masters in Counseling and several certifications and for the last 20+ years I’ve worked in career services supporting students in their exploration.

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?

I have a meditation practice and every year I attend at least one silent meditation retreat from 10 – 30 days. I listen to audiobooks and podcasts, on a variety of topics, just for the pure joy of learning something new. I also love hiking, traveling and spending free time with my friends and family.
