Assistant Director of Career Coaching and Education - PhDs & Post Docs

Lance Choy

Tell us something interesting about your background.

Over the years I have had the opportunities to work in a lot of different roles. I have had a chance to work as a career coach with undergraduates and masters from all disciplines, and, currently, PhD's and postdocs. At one point in time I was the IT guy for the office. During my watch, one of the office's servers was hacked by Eastern Europeans (according to the FBI). That incident led to the University investing in resources to provide technical support so that all offices had firewalls. This was a while ago shortly after the dawn of the internet.

What has led you to your current role?

I wanted to help students thrive.

In your spare time, what do you enjoy doing?

Before COVID I used to play a lot of racquetball and basketball. I volunteer and work with middle school and high school youth at my church.
