Explore Options
Exploring your career options is an important step in your career journey.

Here are three ways to explore your options.

Conduct informational interviews
Informational interviews are conversations with professionals to learn about occupations, industries, and companies. Alumni are an excellent resource for informational interviews. Check out how to connect with alumni below.

Career Fairs
Attend career fairs, employer-hosted events, and alumni programs that will help you explore your career options. Check out the Events section of Handshake to learn more about events and programs.

Make a coaching appointment or meet with a mentor
Meet with one of our Career Coaches and/or a mentor who can ask you questions and help you think through what is important to you in a career. Find mentors via the Stanford Alumni Mentoring (SAM) network.

Alumni are ready and willing to help you explore careers. Connect with alumni via these three platforms.

Stanford Alumni Mentoring (SAM)
We offer the Stanford Alumni Mentoring (SAM) platform to make it easier to reach out to alumni for career conversations. SAM is a database of over 5,000 alumni from a wide-range of identities, backgrounds, and industries – all of whom have volunteered to help you. These alumni are eager to pass on what they have learned to you and are happy to engage in career conversations no matter where you are in your career journey.

Stanford Alumni Directory
Search the Stanford Alumni Directory hosted by the Stanford Alumni Association. Reach out to alumni via their email address to ask for an informational interview.

LinkedIn Alumni Tool
There are over 230,000 Stanford alumni on LinkedIn. Browse the LinkedIn Alumni tool to find alumni in your field or company of interest. Connect with alumni via LinkedIn.
